It will be featured on the Nationals show program cover, official show merchandise, and at the World Equestrian Games on IALHA postcards. The Andalusian gelding, Poloma, is owned & ridden by Bobbie Pollard. Click here to see Laurie Virkstis Photography's photographic painting

Thank You Alida for hosting the last Austin Dressage Unlimited's Dinner & DVD Night of the 2010 year at Emerald Meadows!

Thanks to Alida, the group enjoyed homemade chicken, beef, and vegetarian enchiladas, along with rice and beans. Guests furnished the rest of the required Mexican dishes including chips, salsa and Tres Leche cake for dessert.

The group watched one DVD as Hubertus Schmidt provided a minute by minute account of his own riding and training and a second DVD where he provided a minute by minute account as he worked with Olympic champion, Charlotte Bredahl-Baker on her young horse.  Members had an opportunity to ask questions and review specific sections of the DVDs to clarify Schmidt’s remarks and better understand his comments and suggestions. Everyone had a great time while enjoying the great food, learning opportunity and camaraderie of other Dressage enthusiasts.

Congratulations to Jonathan Wentz!   Jonathan, a Region 9 Para Olympian from Dallas, Texas has qualified for the World Equestrian Games.  Read about Jonathan's journey... Support Jonathan at www.jonathanwentz.org.

Chef d’ Equipe – An Equestrian's Cookbook

A Collection of Recipes for the Active Equestrian

rider

After much anticipation, the “release” of the Austin Dressage Unlimited horse-themed Cookbook is here! This very unique cookbook is a fundraising project for future dressage educational programs. Included are great recipes that are meant to be quick and easy, in order to give us more free time to ride.

The cookbook has the usual sections of yummy recipes for humans, along with a section for horse treats. All with clever horse or riding related names, such as Happy Horse Hash Browns, My Breeches are Too Tight Buns, Spent My Fortune on Horses Spiced Orange Tea, Bucking Buttercup Cakes, and funny one-liners in some of the recipes. Topped off with wonderful color horse photography throughout.

Every equestrian should own one. Purchase one for yourself, and more as gifts for each of your horsey friends. It will be a really fun, and useful cookbook to own. Click here for a flyer and Cookbook order form.

Announcing! A new ADU Member Recognition program in 2010! "USDF Scholars"

Austin Dressage Unlimited would like to recognize and honor our members who have achieved academic milestones in their dressage education, by earning USDF Certificates and Diplomas from USDF University. With this distinction, our members have proven their dedication to a lifetime of learning. USDF created USDF University to set a standard for individual lifetime achievement in dressage education. It is a 7-tiered award ladder for scholastic accomplishment based on earning a progressively higher number of credit hours by attending USDF University approved educational programs. ADU recognition for USDF Certificate or Diploma achievement will be awarded at the annual ADU Membership Party in November. In addition, inductees names will be permanently listed as ADU-USDF University Scholars on the ADU website.

The most recent ADU "Scholar" to earn a USDF-University Certificate is Laurie Virkstis. We applaud her efforts and support all who wish to do the same. For more information, visit our ADU Recognitions page
